+ What can I expect from a Polish wedding?
We’re planning to take some of the best traditions from polish weddings, and some of the best parts of a british wedding, and mix them together.
We’re still figuring out the finer details of the day but expect lots of dancing, eating and drinking well into the early-hours (assuming we can keep george away from the toilet!).
+ Will I have to drink all the vodka?
nope! There’ll be lots of toasts but you can always opt out. There’ll be plenty of other drink options for you to enjoy, too.

A few tips from a lightweight, and a pole:
- don’t fill the shot glass all the way to the top. Less is more.
- don’t try the “I wonder how many shots I can do” approach. Believe us, it’s disappointing and never as much as you think it will be.
- consider swapping the vodka out for water in your shot glass - it's clear anyway so nobody will be able to tell the difference!

“Na Zdrowie!” (Cheers!)
+ What’s this ‘poprawiny’ thing?
Literally "correction" or "fixing," poprawiny refers to the need to finish-off the leftover food and alcohol from the day before. Basically, it’s round 2 - a very casual and relaxed day focussed on a “hair of the dog” recovery strategy.
Please feel free to arrive from 4pm, and stay for as long as you fancy. Expect more food, more drinks, a barbecue and a midsummer bonfire at Janusz & Bozena’s.
+ Is there a dress-code?
No strict dress-code. We’ll be wearing suits and dresses but we want you to feel comfortable and relaxed, so please wear something that allows you to eat and drink and feel good dancing all night long! The brighter the colours the better!
On a practical note, Cegielnia is an old brick factory next to the sea with lots of areas to explore. The ceremony will be outside on the grass so we’d suggest some comfortable shoes, and possibly even some swimmers if you fancy a morning dip!
+ Are kids invited?
We’re afraid we’re not inviting children to the wedding day. Hopefully it’s a chance for the mum’s and dad’s to party but please message us if that’s going to prevent you from being able to come.
Poprawiny on Sunday will be very casual so please feel free to bring your kids along then.
+ Where should I fly into?
Gdańsk airport is your best option. You can get into central Gdańsk very easily with taxis, ubers or the train.
+ Where should I stay?
On Saturday we’ll be in Rzucewo for the wedding itself, which is about a 40 minute drive from Gdańsk. On Sunday we’re heading back to Gdańsk for Poprawiny at Ala’s parent’s place.
We can help you find the best place to stay, and for those who plan to stay in Gdańsk / Sopot / Gdynia please let us know and we can help with ordering transport for the wedding day.
+ Do i need a visa?
If you’re a UK citizen you don’t need a visa but please make sure:
- your passport’s ‘date of issue’ is less than 10 years before the date you arrive (Danny!).
- the expiry date is at least 3 months after the day you plan to leave the eu.
+ What about gifts?
Your presents is the most important thing for us.

Just kidding, it's your presence that will make our day.
